The Shibby

I have been hanging out in Busan, South Korea for the better part of a year. In that time I have experienced a whole lot of craziness...

Some Words of Wisdom

I've got a smile on my face, I've got four walls around me. The sun in the sky, the water surrounds me. I'll win now but sometimes I'll lose. I've been battered, but I'll never bruise, it's not so bad. And I say way-hey-hey, it's just an ordinary day, and it's all your state of mind. At the end of the day, you've still got to say, it's all right.

This past weekend Danielle, Alex and I headed out to Changwon to spend some time with our dear friends Sam and Jess. We ended up out there around 6 pm on Saturday after having an absolutely lazy day sleeping in and playing video games. Shortly after our arrival we left for the cinema to witness motion picture history. That is to say, we saw the new James Bond film, amazing. After that energy pumping thrill ride we headed for some dinner with Sam's friend from Detroit. The meal we had was called Galbi and it was a rice based spicy chicken dish. Really spicy but really delicious. It may quite possibly be one of the most delicious meals I have had here thus far. After dinner we headed back to the apartment and hung out there for a little while before heading up to the roof to lite off some fireworks. At the time this seemed like a good idea and to this day I maintain that we had a lot of fun in the process but this event was not without its consequences. We found out several days later that Danielle's eye had been burnt by a rogue spark which in effect had left her eye damaged, sore and covered by an eye patch. It took two trips to the hospital and nearly an entire week to heal but thankfully she has made a full recovery. We enjoyed the remainder of the night at O'briens and a Karaoke bar where we butchered the classics and improved the pop tracks. The next morning we shopped around at various farmer's markets and scooter shops hoping to find Sam a deal on a late model ride. We came across one shop that was offering him a 2-seater, 50cc scooter for $700 with the potential of a $300 buy back at the end of the year, not too bad a deal.

Check out the photos for all the latest from the weekend, courtesy of Danielle.
